Hello, dtoid community! I am looking to spread the word on a new retro gaming book I have created, “Capcom's PlayStation: A Chronological Visual Retrospective”. The book is a 277 page, A4 sized, hardcover release. Inside I breakdown every game Capcom was involved with on the original PlayStation with many screenshots (over 750) and full retrospective write ups. It is organized in chronological order so you can see as technology advanced and as Capcom grew more acclimated to producing better games over the years and squeeze the most out of that little gray box.
I just launched my Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to print the book. You can find the campaign page here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/darrenhupke/capcoms-playstation. I have a fully finished book right now, and the only loose threads are going to be filled by potential backers looking to be a part of the book themselves (this could be you!). Through the campaign, backers will have a chance to include contributions and retrospectives of their own that I will add, and if funding surpasses my initial goal, additional pages will be added, print quality will be improved and more.
This is a full on passion project of mine, and the second book like this I have done. The first was a Kickstarter success and I am hoping to have the same with this one. I personally played through each of the games included to capture the screenshots inside to keep a clear and consistent quality. I read through hundreds of classic gaming magazines for impressions and reviews from the era for information and put it all into the pages of this book. As a huge PlayStation fan, I am hoping to connect with as many people as I can to find others like me interested in a project like this.
The awesome cover artwork was commissioned by the same great artist who helped with my first book Ry-Spirit (Instagram @ryspiritart).
