TGIF Open Thread!

What day is it?? Friday! Late to the party but here I am to once again remind you all the weekend is starting. Fuck work and enjoy yourself and all that!

Busy busy week but not bad at all. Well, one thing is very bad but I'll get to that. For me personally, the week went pretty good. Was able to finally take my own advice and calm tf down and not stress to much over how insanely busy work is. Doing what I can in the time I've been given. I'll get to everything else when I get to it. It's nice to finally find that mindset again because stressing over this shit just isn't worth it.

I'm excitedly waiting for my pre-order of Super Mario RPG Remake to arrive from Amazon. Sooo excited to finally start playing that as that is easily one of my all time favorite games. Part of me hopes Nintendo gets the hint and realizes that there's money in these remakes and while they do take a lot of work, it takes a lot less work and money to give us modern versions since all the writing and core elements are already there to build off of. Pretty please with a fuck ton of sugar on top, remake Earthbound and then follow that up with a Mother 3 remake localized all over the world for the very first time. Easy, easy money for them and the hype alone for Mother 3 to finally leave Japan would earn them buckets of cash.

In sad news, if anyone has been paying attention to gaming news, the completionist is a fraud. So there's that. A lot of people are taking the wait and see how he responds approach but the evidence alone is very damning and I can't see a single excuse he potentially makes as being valid or good enough to undo the harm he's done. Basically, raised more then 650 thousand dollars for charaity to help fund dementia research through his Open Hand foundation which is great! Only that they haven't donated a single dollar of it over the 9 years they've been raising those funds and has been lying about it ever since. Oh, and over the course of those 9 years, around $125,000 has been used for "operation expenses". What expenses does a foundation that has literally done zero work and has donated not a single dollar have? The rest of the money is just sitting in their bank account for them to slowly siphon or apparently "donate" at a later date until they find a charity they deem worthy. Let me tell you, it doesn't take 9 fucking years to find a charity that would put that money to actual demntia research. This is an incredibly scummy move and I personally hope this guy is burned to the ground. There are two youtube videos that explain the situation very well and go through all the evidence as well as a call with the completionist himself saying he's aware the funds have not been donated. Whole situation really bummed me out and pissed me off. If you want to donate, make sure you donate directly to the source to avoid being scammed.

Anywaaaays...that bs drama out of the way, this weekend the wife and I plan on seeing a movie. Not sure which yet but we are also starting a new game together in Baldur's Gate 3 that we will play from time to time. I'm going to make a ridiculous looking character this time and just have fun with it. Should be a great time.
