So I just played Superliminal

   0

Superliminal was a game that I had seen bits and pieces of but had never tried, even though it looked really REALLY cool. Last week, my buddy recommended that I play it, and it's on Game Pass so I didn't really have an excuse.

The game's premise involves lab tests, dreams, and chess, kinda. You're stuck in a dream, and you have to get out by solving puzzles with the guidence of Dr. Glenn Pierce and a condescending other voice. It's like Inception if it was directed by Wes Anderson and/or Daniels.

The game's main mechanic is making things bigger or smaller by changing your perspective. It's probably one of the most unique gameplay mechanics I've ever seen and I was surprised by how easy it actually was to use.

The levels are surreal as hell. The first few bits reminded me of Portal, because I can't stop comparing things to other things. Further down the game, things get weirder and weirder, but the game never loses its charm.

It's a short and sweet game, and the kind that messes with your head a bit. My buddy compared it to The Stanley Parable. It's nothing like The Stanley Parable. I see what he means, but he's still wrong. It IS a clever and charming game with great puzzles and one of the most unique gameplay mechanics I've ever seen.

Here's the thing. At the end of all that, the game has a moral to teach. Honestly, it was something that I felt like I really needed to hear when I played it. I won't give it entirely away, but in the words of DB Boulevard:
"Can't you see? Life's easy

If you consider things
From another point of view"

Sorry if that was a bit messy, but I find it really hard to describe the game. So go play it yourself, I highly recommend it. I'm sure you could describe it much better than I ever could.

In conclusion, my head hurts.

9/10

- Thanks for reading. Have a good one. See ya.
