Well, it looks like more Switch successor rumors are swirling. A new report has emerged today stating that the Switch 2 (or whatever it ends up being called) is indeed targeting a 2024 release, and with an LCD screen.

The news comes from Takashi Mochizuki and Yuki Furukawa of Bloomberg. The duo cited Hiroshi Hayase, an analyst for Omdia. Hayase states that Nintendo intends to double the production of "amusement displays" throughout 2024. They also noted that the sequel system would feature an 8-inch LCD screen. The Switch OLED, released over two years ago, houses a 7-inch screen, and the original Switch houses a 6.2-inch LCD screen.

https://twitter.com/business/status/1750856387675017549?s=43

Omdia is a London-based consultancy firm focused on telecommunications, media, and technology. Sure, it's just another analyst (albeit a credible one) saying the next Nintendo console is coming soon. But all of the more recent Switch successor rumors are beginning to line up.

Also noted in today's Bloomberg article is a reminder that Shark Corp., an LCD panel supplier, was revealed to be supplying LCD screens for an upcoming gaming console. The company has an established relationship with Nintendo, as they worked to assemble Switch consoles during the pandemic.

If 2024 is indeed when we can expect Nintendo's next console, we could hopefully be hearing something relatively soon. The Switch was showcased in trailer form on October 20, 2016. That's less than five months before the Nintendo Switch launched on March 7, 2017.

If we go by the logic of history repeating itself and assume that a Switch 2 will be out before the kickoff of holiday shopping around Black Friday, we may be seeing Nintendo making an official reveal of their wildly popular hybrid console around mid-June. Just in time for this year's Summer Game Fest and other gaming events. We'll have to wait and see.

Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition ventures onto PC in March https://www.destructoid.com/horizon-forbidden-west-complete-edition-ventures-onto-pc-in-march/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=horizon-forbidden-west-complete-edition-ventures-onto-pc-in-march https://www.destructoid.com/horizon-forbidden-west-complete-edition-ventures-onto-pc-in-march/#respond Thu, 25 Jan 2024 20:34:59 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=454610 Horizon Forbidden West PS5 single player games

Announced in September, we've been awaiting confirmation as to when the Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition would launch on PC. Today, Sony gave us our answer.

The Complete Edition dropped for PlayStation 5 on October 6. It brought with it a slew of bonus content on top of the revered Burning Shores expansion. All of this will be included within the PC Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition, now slated to release on March 21.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbofnUWolHE

The majority of the PC Complete Edition's content is similar to that of the PlayStation 5 version, But the PC port has some additional bells and whistles that will excite those with more heftier hardware. PC players will have the option to unlock frame rates, personalize their graphics settings, and enjoy advanced performance features like NVIDIA's DLSS 3 upscaling and frame generation.

As for monitors, ultra-wide support has been implemented so that PC players can enjoy all of Forbidden West's incredible environments. You'll have the ability to go as far as a triple monitor setup, with resolution options including 21:9, 32:9, and 48:9.

Mouse and keyboard controls are fully customizable, of course. Steam Input support is implemented so that you can remap your controller of choice. Including the PlayStation DualSense which allows PC players to enjoy Guerilla Games' use of the controller's haptic feedback abilities.

As for the Complete Edition's bonus content, there are a handful of new outfits and weapons that will be available for download. Also included are a resource pack, an Apex Clawstrider Machine Strike Piece, and an exclusive Photo Mode pose and face paint that's only in the Complete Edition. You can get the full breakdown over on the PlayStation Blog.

PC players can begin playing the Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition on March 21. If you've yet to check out Forbidden West, you should. It's pretty great.

Splatoon 3 Side Order DLC arrives near the end of February https://www.destructoid.com/splatoon-3-side-order-dlc-arrives-late-february-release-date/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=splatoon-3-side-order-dlc-arrives-late-february-release-date https://www.destructoid.com/splatoon-3-side-order-dlc-arrives-late-february-release-date/#respond Wed, 24 Jan 2024 17:46:29 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=453919 Splatoon 3 Side Order DLC Release Date

Splatoon 3 fans woke up to big news this morning. After initially being slated for Spring 2024, the second wave of the game's DLC is getting a bump up. It's now scheduled to be released toward the end of next month.

Splatoon 3 Sider Order is now confirmed to be heading our way on February 22. It's included as part of the Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass. The pass consists of the already released Inkopolis DLC and the upcoming Sider Order content. The Expansion Pass is currently listed at $24.99.

https://youtu.be/veclhHrUpqc

Today's Side Order release date trailer looks like it purposely evokes a Matrix vibe. We see Agent 8 fall asleep on a train just as the screen starts to glitch. It then quickly becomes overwhelmed by falling symbols that's quite similar to the Matrix series' green coding. We'll have to wait and see whether the sci-fi series is alluded to any further in the upcoming DLC.

Inkopolis reintroduced the first Splatoon game's main hub as an explorable area. There were some minor changes to the environment, but nothing radical. Side Order looks to be a much meatier piece of new content.

Side Order introduces a new location in the Spire of Order. In this single-player campaign, players will experience a challenge tower of sorts. You'll attempt to advance through the Spire of Order's various floors by taking on wave after wave of oncoming enemies. Nintendo says the new content is meant to be played over and over.

More single-player content for the "superb" Splatoon 3 is certainly something to be excited about. We'll see how it all comes together on February 22.

Solid Snake heads to Fortnite today – cardboard box included https://www.destructoid.com/solid-snake-raiden-fortnite-battle-pass-arrives-today/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=solid-snake-raiden-fortnite-battle-pass-arrives-today https://www.destructoid.com/solid-snake-raiden-fortnite-battle-pass-arrives-today/#respond Tue, 23 Jan 2024 21:15:06 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=453412 Fortnite Solid Snake Tactical Advantage Loading Screen

Whether you simply forgot that the character was coming, or, it snuck up on you (because that's what he does), Solid Snake makes his Fortnite debut today.

We've known the character was coming since the Fortnite Chapter 5 launch trailer dropped in early December. But today, we now know exactly what the tactical espionage expert brings along with him.

https://twitter.com/fortnitegame/status/1749824495253168219?s=46

With the character's inclusion, Fortnite will also be adding EMP Stealth Camo as a new item. It can render players nearly invisible for a brief amount of time. You can activate it as often as you like, though there is a cooldown timer you'll have to wait through in between uses.

When the EMP Stealth Camo is disabled, an EMP pulse is discharged that will damage nearby shields and bring any vehicles in the area to a screeching halt. You can find the cool new item in chests, on the ground, or by purchasing it directly from Snake himself with gold bars in-game.

Also being introduced to the battle royale is Snake's iconic cardboard box. These empty boxes are littered throughout the island. Some of them may contain special forces NPCs. Others will just be empty for you to take along with you. Just like the EMP Stealth Camo, you can find the cardboard boxes across the island randomly, in chests, or via purchase from Snake.

What Snake skins and items are in Fortnite?

As far as outfits go, we're getting ones specifically for Solid Snake's character. The standard Solid Snake skin is unlocked pretty early by completing page one of Snake's Quests. With it, you get the character's iconic look and can choose to toggle Snake's night vision goggles on or off. Completing page two of Snake's Quests will grant you the Old Snake skin from Metal Gear Solid 4.

Outside of skins, players can earn Snake's Stun Knife Pickaxe, Solid Profile Spray, ! Emote, and ! Banner. There's also an awesome-looking Tactical Advantage Loading Screen that fans are sure to love.

On top of those items, you can also collect the Metal Gear Mk. II Back Bling, Hidden? Emoticon, the really cool-looking Slider Glider, and a Snake Skin Wrap. The requirements of each can be found in the most recent Fortnite blog post.

Today's newest trailer also hints toward Raiden's upcoming inclusion to the Fortnite roster. There have been leaks recently suggesting as much, and the character can be seen towards the beginning of today's new footage as he snipes from afar protecting Snake.

If you have the latest battle pass, sneak on over to Fortnite and start working toward unlocking the greatest spy of them all. Solid Snake Quests end on March 8.

Death Stranding Director’s Cut coming to Mac and iOS next week https://www.destructoid.com/death-stranding-iphone-ipad-mac-release-date/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=death-stranding-iphone-ipad-mac-release-date https://www.destructoid.com/death-stranding-iphone-ipad-mac-release-date/#respond Tue, 23 Jan 2024 21:11:49 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=453439 Death Stranding Director's Cut iOS and Mac Screenshot

After hoping for a release toward the end of 2023, we now know when the Death Stranding Director's Cut will be landing on iOS and Mac devices. 505 Games, the team handling the port, has confirmed the title will be delivered next week.

The release will make the definitive version of Hideo Kojima's 2019 hit available to a substantial new audience. It's playable for everyone with an iPhone 15 Pro or iPads and Macs with the M-series chip. It will be available for download via the Apple App Store on January 30.

https://twitter.com/kojipro2015_en/status/1749824967448150337?s=43

The Director's Cut was initially released for PlayStation 5 in September 2021. It was then followed with a PC iteration in March 2022. Within it comes the base game, as well as a new underground factory location, expanded story missions, and various delivery assists to make navigating terrain a bit easier.

505 Games is publishing the port. The Death Stranding Director's Cut is being listed on the App Store for $39.99. However, those who preorder ahead of the January 30 launch can enjoy a nice 50% discount on their purchase. It's the first of potentially many future titles that Kojima has committed to bring to Apple's platforms.

Players who own multiple newer Apple products should be aware that the game incorporates Apple's Special Delivery feature. This enables those with Mac and iOS devices to purchase the Director's Cut once and have it playable across all platforms. Just be sure to have space available, as the Death Stranding Director's Cut on iOS and Mac comes in at a sizeable 69.8 GB.

New Princess Peach: Showtime! trailer shows Peach in a variety of roles https://www.destructoid.com/new-princess-peach-showtime-trailer/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=new-princess-peach-showtime-trailer https://www.destructoid.com/new-princess-peach-showtime-trailer/#respond Tue, 23 Jan 2024 18:36:18 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=453301 Princess Peach: Showtime Key Art

We're getting closer to Princess Peach's next act on the main stage. Princess Peach: Showtime! is coming to the Nintendo Switch in March, and Nintendo dropped a new trailer today teasing what's on the way.

The leader of the Mushroom Kingdom leaves the crown behind and takes on a series of new roles in the upcoming title. Many of which you can catch in the new Princess Peach: Showtime! trailer below.

https://youtu.be/kGJIpCAkc-0

So far, we've seen Peach sport several different hats, including a cowgirl getup, detective 'fit, swordfighter ensemble, and even a patissiere costume complete with Yoshi's Cookie-inspired designs.

The gist of Princess Peach: Showtime! revolves around Peach and a few of her closest toads putting on a show at the famed Sparkle Theater of the Mushroom Kingdom. However, shockingly to everyone, some bad guys arrive to heckle the performers and put an end to the show.

Gameplay-wise, Peach will tackle a bunch of different roles as she travels from stage to stage in an effort to take down the nefarious Grape and the Sour Bunch. Yes, that is their real name.

To squash Grape and his crew, the Mushroom Kingdom Princess will take on numerous roles, including Swordfighter Peach, Patissiere Peach, Cowgirl Peach, Ninja Peach, Detective Peach, Kung Fu Peach, and likely several more that we haven't seen yet.

Princess Peach: Showtime! gives us the Princess' first solo outing since 2005's Super Princess Peach on the Nintendo DS. It's one of the better non-Mario Mario games out there. The character is long overdue for a new outing of her own, especially after the character's strong depiction in The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Peach will look to make Grape whine and go home when Princess Peach: Showtime! raises the curtains on March 22.

WWE 2K24 pins down early March release date https://www.destructoid.com/wwe-2k24-release-date-march/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=wwe-2k24-release-date-march https://www.destructoid.com/wwe-2k24-release-date-march/#respond Mon, 22 Jan 2024 18:34:01 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=452945 WWE 2K24 WrestleMania Immortals Cover Art

WWE 2K24 is strutting down the entrance ramp and headed toward the squared circle. 2K Games announced this morning that the next iteration of the wrestling sim is headed to consoles and PC in early March.

The developer also showcased the theme for the 2024 version of the title. It will revolve around this year being the 40th anniversary of WrestleMania and will showcase the "Immortals" that have made an impact on the event throughout the last four decades.

https://youtu.be/6qxLVPmM7FE

As highlighted in the Finish Your Story trailer, Cody Rhodes will don the game's cover when it releases on March 8. For the Deluxe Edition, former WWE Women's Champions Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley have earned that honor.

WWE 2K24 will incorporate a bunch of new features to separate itself from previous entries. This year's Showcase mode is entitled 2K Showcase…of the Immortals and will highlight the biggest matches that took place at "the granddaddy of them all" over the last 40 years.

There are four new match types being implemented this year. These include an Ambulance Match, a Special Guest Referee Match, a Gauntlet Match, and a Casket Match. The latter of which can be spotted in today's trailer with The Undertaker doing the dirty work, of course.

The devs say that there will be over 200 wrestlers to choose from in 2K24. They're also promising better animations, "over 90% of facial expressions updated", and the ability to finally transition the in-game camera during live gameplay. As for the dozens of other changes and additions, 2K Games has a full list of what's included on its website.

The WWE 2K series as a whole seems to be on an incline. After the disaster that was WWE 2K20, WWE 2K22 got modest reviews. Then last year, Destructoid gave WWE 2K23 a solid 7.5. Let's hope the series continues the upward trend toward a championship effort.

WWE 2K24 is set to release on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on March 8. The Deluxe Edition will launch a few days earlier, on March 5.

Palworld hits 1 million copies sold in just 8 hours https://www.destructoid.com/palworld-sells-one-million-copies-in-8-hours/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=palworld-sells-one-million-copies-in-8-hours https://www.destructoid.com/palworld-sells-one-million-copies-in-8-hours/#respond Fri, 19 Jan 2024 17:58:01 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=451972 Palworld Pals with Guns

It turns out that the idea of "Pokémon with guns" appears to be pretty popular. Pocket Pair, the developers behind Palworld, have announced that their fledgling title is already selling incredibly well.

How well, you ask? Well, the team revealed that sales for the newly released game have already crossed the million copies sold mark - and that was in just eight hours.

https://twitter.com/Palworld_EN/status/1748378179134427304

Described by the development team as a "monster-catching, survival and crafting game", Palworld just launched yesterday on Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview. It's also available for Xbox Game Pass, though the subscription service isn't typically accounted for in sales figures.

Momentum was strong for Palworld leading up to its release. The night before launch, the game was ranked third on Steam's Wishlist page. On top of that, the hodgepodge project is currently trending on X at the time of this article being published.

I describe Palworld as a hodgepodge project because it seems to borrow lots of different ideas from other notable games. In his recent impressions of the Early Access build, Destructoid's Eric Van Allen noted that on top of there being similarities to the Pokémon series, there are also elements of Breath of the Wild, RustValheim, and Monster Hunter incorporated throughout too.

Again, Palworld will remain in an Early Access/Game Preview build for at least a year according to its Steam page. There are plenty of additions and changes that Pocket Pair plans to implement in the coming months. Amongst them will be new monsters to catch, new areas and dungeons to explore, fresh buildings and items for survival, and more. The development team also noted that they "are also considering incorporating entirely new game systems based on player feedback and ideas."

Exoprimal x Monster Hunter collaboration launches today with Season 3 https://www.destructoid.com/exoprimal-monster-hunter-season-3-collab-launches-january/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=exoprimal-monster-hunter-season-3-collab-launches-january https://www.destructoid.com/exoprimal-monster-hunter-season-3-collab-launches-january/#respond Thu, 18 Jan 2024 21:03:47 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=451382 Exoprimal Monster Hunter Collaboration Rathalos

Much like with Street Fighter 6 in Season 2, one of the big selling points of Exoprimal Season 3 is the Monster Hunter collaboration that Capcom has been promoting. The new season launches today, and it incorporates a pretty meaty amount of content.

Ryozo Tsujimoto, series producer of both Exoprimal and Monster Hunter, released a developer commentary video breaking down the collaboration of the two beast-battling titles.

https://youtu.be/NDqr47Sqf9c

The highlight of the new content for most is likely the inclusion of Rathalos. The wyvern is sort of the Monster Hunter mascot at this point. The monster has been in every game of the series and was even featured as a boss and assist trophy in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Exoprimal players who gather enough monster tracks can trigger a special mission that brings the iconic creature into the game for battle. The flying wyvern will have an exosuit designed after it too.

"So, we designed the Rathalos boss fight in a way that maintains the King of the Skies’ characteristic behaviors while also empowering it with the fortitude to take on 10 Exofighters," Exoprimal director Takuro Hiraoka told us in an interview about bringing Rathalos to Exoprimal.

Other than Rathalos, players can also obtain more of the usual in Monster Hunter style; skins, decals, emotes, charms, and stamps. One of the exosuits being introduced is an homage to another iconic Monster Hunter beast, Rajang. There will be exosuits of Kirin and Nergigante too.

The Exoprimal x Monster Hunter collab is only available for a limited window. You'll have to gobble up everything you can prior to the event ending on February 12. But there is more than just the cross-Capcom content to look forward to.

What else is in Exoprimal Season 3?

Season 3 is broken down in detail on the Exporimal site, but highlights include a new 10-person co-op Final Mission against a new Neosaur: the Neo Triceratops. As well as four new beta variant exosuits to try out.

Also in Season 3 is a new Jungle field location that can be found deep within Bikitoa Island. A new stealth rig is being introduced too which turns players invisible for a limited time. There are a pair of new campaigns on the way this season to be excited for. The Lunar Campaign runs January 31 through February 12 and the Chocolate Campaign will span February 13 through February 29.

Enjoy the new content while you can. Season 3 as a whole will conclude on April 17.

Rock Band 4 gets its final DLC on January 25 https://www.destructoid.com/rock-band-4-final-dlc-arrives-january-25-harmonix/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=rock-band-4-final-dlc-arrives-january-25-harmonix https://www.destructoid.com/rock-band-4-final-dlc-arrives-january-25-harmonix/#respond Wed, 17 Jan 2024 20:35:51 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=450970 Rock Band 4 Key Art

It's the end of an era. A really, really impressive era. After over eight years of continual releases, Harmonix announced that the final DLC for Rock Band 4 will be dropped next week.

Harmonix released a blog post confirming news that January 25 will see the last batch of DLC released for the 2015 rhythm title. The announcement came as a surprise to fans of the series, and it's sure to get the remaining dedicated players a bit emotional.

https://twitter.com/RockBand/status/1747680438267556237

Saying that Rock Band 4's DLC journey began in 2015 isn't quite accurate, though. It really started in 2007 following the release of the original Rock Band.

One of the beautiful things about the Rock Band series is that fans who followed Harmonix across Rock Band, Rock Band 2, Rock Band 3, and Rock Band 4 could bring their song libraries with them. This means that nearly every song from each game's original track list, the vast majority of DLC purchased across those titles, as well as content from spin-off titles like Lego Rock Band and Green Day: Rock Band, could be ported into Rock Band 4.

It was a feature that seemed impossible when you think about having to deal with all of those music licenses. Harmonix pulled it off though, enabling those who sought to purchase everything available to build music libraries of well over 3,000 tracks.

As for the final DLC songs, the developer states it "will feature some tear jerkers that sum up our feelings about this moment." January 18 will include Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" and The Troggs' "Our Love Will Still Be There". What's to come for the following week's final DLC drop is to be announced.

Harmonix did confirm that this isn't the end of Rock Band 4 entirely. While DLC will cease to release, the game will still support online play, ongoing Rival seasons, and "everything else."

What's next for Harmonix?

What's next for the rhythmic developer appears to be Fortnite Festival for the foreseeable future. Harmonix confirmed that the Fortnite-based music title has been the team's main focus over the last couple of years. The free-to-play mode will continue to get a rotating selection of free songs to play. Epic Games recently confirmed that adding instrument controller support is "a priority for the team and currently under development."

Following the very successful launch of Rock Band in 2007, each subsequent iteration of the core series saw a significant decline in sales. Co-publisher of Rock Band 4, Mad Catz, considered Rock Band 4 sales to be "incredibly disappointing". The company filed for bankruptcy in March of 2017.

With the lackluster sales performance of Rock Band 4, it's unknown whether Harmonix's parent company Epic Games will see any value in a possible Rock Band 5. It would be tragic if this was the end of the iconic rhythm series, as longtime fans like myself know that Fortnite Festival just isn't quite the same.

Ace Combat 7 flies onto Switch in July https://www.destructoid.com/ace-combat-7-switch-launch-july-bandai-namco/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=ace-combat-7-switch-launch-july-bandai-namco https://www.destructoid.com/ace-combat-7-switch-launch-july-bandai-namco/#respond Wed, 17 Jan 2024 17:02:43 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=450849 Ace Combat 7 Switch

There aren't many quality flight titles to choose from on the Nintendo Switch. But the console's library will be adding one this summer as Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is officially inbound.

Bandai Namco dropped a new trailer confirming the news today. The Switch port of the 2019 air combat sim looks solid in trailer form, but we'll have to wait until its July 11 release date to see if it runs as well as its PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One counterparts.

https://youtu.be/TwSASVf-0eY

The Switch iteration of Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is the Deluxe Edition, which includes a trio of original aircraft sets, three additional single-player missions, two more real-world planes in the F-104C -Avril and the F-4E Phantom II, a music player mode, and added skins and emblems from prior entries in the Ace Combat series.

Destructoid considered Ace Combat 7 a return to form for the series in our January 2019 review. It was lauded for its meticulous detail of real-world aircraft, ambitious “airborne Metal Gear“ story, and a soundtrack that keeps your adrenaline pumping as you engage in epic aerial combat.

Four additional DLC packs are coming to Switch post-launch, all of which have already landed on the other consoles previously mentioned. They are the Original Aircraft Series Set, the Experimental Aircraft Series Set, the Cutting-edge Aircraft Series Set, and the Top Gun: Maverick Aircraft Set.

It's unclear whether these post-launch DLC sets will be included as part of the Deluxe Edition package or whether Bandai Namco will sell them as additional packages. But, guessing from the inclusion of the Top Gun: Maverick set, the content will likely be offered at a premium.

We'll see how the Nintendo Switch version of Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown fares when it takes off on July 11.

Hitman: Blood Money – Reprisal sneaks onto Switch January 25 https://www.destructoid.com/hitman-blood-money-reprisal-switch/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=hitman-blood-money-reprisal-switch https://www.destructoid.com/hitman-blood-money-reprisal-switch/#respond Fri, 12 Jan 2024 18:37:16 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=449106 Hitman Blood Money Reprisal Switch Key Art

After targeting iOS and Android devices in November, Hitman: Blood Money - Reprisal has a new console on the hit list. The upgraded version of the 2006 stealth classic is coming to the Nintendo Switch eShop on January 25.

Like the iOS and Android versions, the Switch iteration will see vast improvements over the initial title that launched on PC, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Xbox 360 in 2006. Some of which you may notice in the Switch release date trailer below.

https://youtu.be/aDcP9oXBgYQ

Feral Interactive handled the iOS and Android ports of Hitman: Blood Money - Reprisal, and they're taking care of the Switch version as well. The game's visuals haven't changed much since 2006, but there are a lot of quality-of-life features being introduced to make Agent 47 feel a bit more modern.

Instinct Mode, something that was introduced to the Hitman series later on, is incorporated into Reprisal. It helps players out by highlighting important mission objectives and targets on the level's map so you have a clearer idea of what you're being tasked with and where you should be headed.

2006's Blood Money didn't have a mini-map for players to utilize, but Feral Interactive implemented one to aid moment-to-moment gameplay in Reprisal. It's dynamic too, showing instant feedback for Agent 47 as NPCs grow suspicious of his actions.

The controls have been reworked too since the initial PlayStation 2 and Xbox/Xbox 360 releases of Blood Money. This will surely make playing through the stealth title's 12 replayable sandbox missions much smoother on Nintendo's hybrid console.

While the iOS and Android versions of the game launched at $19.99, the Switch iteration of Hitman: Blood Money - Reprisal is being listed at $29.99 on the Nintendo eShop. But those who head over there and preorder before the game's January 25 release will earn themselves a 16% discount, knocking the overall cost down to $24.99.

PlayStation Plus Game Catalog gets Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands and more this month https://www.destructoid.com/playstation-plus-game-catalog-january-2024/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=playstation-plus-game-catalog-january-2024 https://www.destructoid.com/playstation-plus-game-catalog-january-2024/#respond Wed, 10 Jan 2024 21:46:58 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=448205 PlayStation Plus January 2024 Lineup

The PlayStation Blog revealed what PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra owners can add to their Game Catalog this month. Each of January's offerings will be available to Extra and Premium subscribers as of January 16.

Sony is highlighting Tiny Tina's Wonderlands as a stand-out this month. It's a spin-off from Gearbox's renowned Borderlands series. This time around, the looter-shooter leans into the tabletop inspirations set forth by past content like Borderlands 2's Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep. Chris Carter reviewed it at launch in March of 2022 and considered it "great".

https://twitter.com/playstation/status/1745120943666586079?s=46

Resident Evil 2 (also coming to Game Pass) is the second headliner this month. Capcom's "superb" remake of the iconic horror sequel wow-ed when it was released in 2019. I'd strongly recommend it if you've yet to explore Raccoon City on modern consoles.

Hardspace: Shipbreaker is also coming to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on January 16. You may not recognize the title, but this space-scavenging career sim impressed many when it launched on PC last year. Zoey Handley of the Destructoid awarded it with an 8.5 upon release.

An oldie but a goodie comes to the service in the form of LEGO City Undercover. The 2013 open-world title is one of few original entries in the LEGO-verse. It got solid reviews back then too.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwQT-TMWjt0

Another classic in the form of Just Cause 3 is on the way too. Destructoid labeled it as "Explosion: The Video Game" in our 2015 review.

Those awaiting the upcoming free-to-play Skate project can try to quench their thirst with Session: Skate Sim this month. It's self-described as an "ultra-realistic skating game" that's "made by and for skaters".

January also brings us the stealth samurai title Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun. Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong is a great option for those looking for some cool puzzles within a darker story. And Surviving the Aftermath, a post-apocalyptic resource management game, is the final PlayStation Plus Game Catalog offering of the month.

For those with PlayStation Plus Premium, there are five new titles coming to that retro library. Be on the lookout for Secret of Mana, Legend of Mana, Street Fighter: 30th Anniversary Collection, Star Wars: Episode 1 The Phantom Menace, and Rally Cross to drop in January as well.

Haunting FMV mystery Immortality comes to PS5 later this month https://www.destructoid.com/immortality-ps5-release-date-january-sam-barlow-half-mermaid/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=immortality-ps5-release-date-january-sam-barlow-half-mermaid https://www.destructoid.com/immortality-ps5-release-date-january-sam-barlow-half-mermaid/#respond Tue, 09 Jan 2024 18:23:33 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=447705 Immortality PS5 Release Date

PlayStation 5 owners are one of the few who have yet to be able to get their hands on Sam Barlow's interactive movie title, Immortality. But their wait is finally over, as Immortality splices onto PS5 on January 23.

The news came within an announcement trailer from Barlow's Half Mermaid Productions. The trailer gives a brief idea of how the game's unique "match cut" feature works and teases the project's supernatural story.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UC0hhcMKTNQ

Initially released for PC and Xbox Series X|S in August 2022, Immortality was met with glowing reviews from many outlets. Destructoid's Eric Van Allen classified it as "superb" in our review.

Immortality's story revolves around the actress Marissa Marcel and the three films she starred in but were never released. The player uses behind-the-scene footage to jump between movies, matching shots of faces or objects to jump to a similar take in a different film. The more you interact with the game's clips, the more you begin to unravel and understand the title's dark and mysterious plot.

Outside of reviews, Immortality also cleaned up during award season. The project was nominated across numerous outlets for Best Performance, Best Story, Best Game Direction, and Best Game. Manon Gage, the lead actress who portrayed Marissa Marcel, came home with hardware at the 2022 Golden Joystick Awards for Best Performer. Gage also won the 2022 New York Game Award for Best Acting in a Game.

PlayStation 5 owners should be excited to have such a unique title become part of the console's catalog when Immortality launches on PlayStation 5 on January 23. Immortality is currently playable on PC, Xbox Series X|S, mobile, and Mac.

Xbox Developer Direct set for January 18, includes Indiana Jones and Avowed https://www.destructoid.com/january-xbox-developers-direct-avowed-indiana-jones-hellblade-2/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=january-xbox-developers-direct-avowed-indiana-jones-hellblade-2 https://www.destructoid.com/january-xbox-developers-direct-avowed-indiana-jones-hellblade-2/#respond Tue, 09 Jan 2024 16:26:45 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=447643 January Xbox Developer Direct

Microsoft is ready to get 2024 rolling. The company has announced that it will host an Xbox Developer Direct on January 18.

Xbox teased several of the projects that we'll be seeing during the January 18 Developer Direct. Amongst them are Obsidian Entertainment's Avowed, MachineGames' Indiana Jones title, and Ninja Theory's Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2.

https://twitter.com/Xbox/status/1744735998385516863

The Xbox Wire shed a few more details on what to expect from the event, including our first real look at Indiana Jones. The Developer Direct will spend about 10 minutes on the project, which includes the first gameplay trailer and details on the title's setting and story.

There weren't really any details given for Hellblade 2's segment. Instead, the Xbox Wire says to expect a behind-the-scenes look at the game courtesy of Ninja Theory. We last saw the title at The Game Awards within an impressive new trailer and a release window confirmed for this year.

Avowed is getting a "deep dive into the gameplay experience" from Obsidian Entertainment. The studio will detail the game's Living Lands and the action RPG's "deep themes, dynamic gameplay, and thoughtful reactivity."

Also at the Developer Direct will be Oxide Games' Ara: History Untold. We'll get a new look at gameplay and features from the history strategy game crafted by veteran developers of the Civilization series.

Xbox also notes that there will be a standalone presentation from Zenimax Online Studios following the Developer Direct. Here you can expect details on The Elder Scrolls Online's 2024 roadmap, including a new zone, storyline, and gameplay features.

The Xbox Developer Direct will stream on Xbox channels on Thursday, January 18 at 12:00 p.m. PST, 3:00 p.m. EST.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Resident Evil 2, and more come to Game Pass https://www.destructoid.com/xbox-game-pass-january-2024/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=xbox-game-pass-january-2024 https://www.destructoid.com/xbox-game-pass-january-2024/#respond Wed, 03 Jan 2024 21:03:57 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=445833 Xbox Game Pass logo

There are some solid additions for Xbox Game Pass subscribers to enjoy as we kick off 2024. With the headliners of the month being Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Resident Evil 2.

One title, Close to the Sun, is out now for Game Pass owners. The rest will be spread out through the rest of January. Close to the Sun is a first-person adventure game from 2019 that has a bit of a Bioshock feel to it. It earned a 75 on Metacritic upon release, with critics coming away impressed for the most part with its atmosphere and story.

https://twitter.com/xboxgamepass/status/1742546646179721385?s=46

Following that is Hell Let Loose, which arrives January 4. It's a World War 2 shooter that touts 50 v. 50 battles on large-scale maps. It's a game that demands teamwork, but with a Metascore of 84, it's said to be pretty fun for those who take the time to learn the ropes.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla (the Viking one) comes to subscribers on January 9. Destructoid gave it an "Okay" when it hit in 2020. Also on January 9, there's Figment from Bedtime Digital Games. The indie action-adventure game was received pretty favorably back in 2018.

The line-up continues with Super Mega Baseball 4 arriving on January 11 via EA Play. It's an arcadey alternative to MLB The Show that gets steadily stronger with each iteration. We Happy Few makes a return to Game Pass on January 11, too. But that's also the same day Resident Evil 2 arrives, and if you haven't played, you're going to want to. Chris Carter considered it "superb" when Capcom released it in 2019.

https://youtu.be/VzeLekD7IBo

Finally, Those Who Remain arrives on January 16. It's a horror title that earned middling reviews when it launched. And with Resident Evil 2 in the mix this month, it's probably a skip.

Alongside new additions, there are also games that are being pulled from the Xbox Game Pass library. And this month is no exception with some big boys being removed from the subscription service. Grand Theft Auto V leaves Game Pass on January 5. And on January 15, players lose access to both Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden.

Disney will release open world Star Wars Outlaws in 2024 https://www.destructoid.com/star-wars-outlaws-release-date/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=star-wars-outlaws-release-date https://www.destructoid.com/star-wars-outlaws-release-date/#respond Tue, 02 Jan 2024 22:12:10 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=445357 Star Wars Outlaws Dogfighting Image

Disney dropped a blog post today teasing what the House of Mouse has in store for fans across the next 12 months. Among the things the company reaffirmed was that Star Wars Outlaws is indeed coming this year.

Oddly though, when the blog was initially published, it specifically stated "late 2024" as the release window for Outlaws. However, a few hours later, the post was updated to remove "late" and now simply lists 2024.

A lot to explore in 2024.

Nothing was really shared on the project other than a vague summation. The blog simply teased that players will "explore distinct planets across the galaxy, both iconic and new."

We were first introduced to the game when Ubisoft unveiled it during Xbox's 2023 Games Showcase. Set in the time period between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, Star Wars Outlaws revolves around the underground world of the franchise. You play as an outlaw scoundrel by the name of Kay Vess as she attempts a massive heist alongside her companion, Nix.

Developed by Massive Entertainment, the title features a variety of different forms of gameplay. While it's primarily a third-person action-adventure project, you'll also encounter stealth, vehicular combat, space combat, and more.

The "late 2024" designation may have been removed from Disney's blog, but it's still probably safe to assume that's the targeted window for Outlaws at this point. For whatever reason, Disney and Ubisoft must just not be ready to formally list the game's release date as such. Regardless, there's little doubt we'll be seeing much more of Star Wars Outlaws in the near future.

Fortnite Festival getting instrument controller support is a ‘priority’ https://www.destructoid.com/fortnite-festival-instrument-controller-support-priority/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=fortnite-festival-instrument-controller-support-priority https://www.destructoid.com/fortnite-festival-instrument-controller-support-priority/#respond Mon, 11 Dec 2023 20:41:55 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=438746 Fortnite Festival Stellar Burst Aura

To this day, I love getting together with my buddies and having a jam session in Rock Band 4. So when Epic Games announced Fortnite Festival, I was hyped. But upon finding out there wasn't support for our plastic guitars and drums, not so much.

Luckily, Epic Games knows that there are plenty of would-be rockers out there just waiting to jam out in a new way. And the publisher confirmed that for the dozens of us, implementing peripheral support is a "priority."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsahlWt7Um0

Within a Q&A style posting on the Fortnite website, the development team addressed several topics. When asked "Does Fortnite Festival support instrument controllers?" the development confirmed that compatibility isn't available at launch. However, the team stated "it's a priority for the team and currently under development. We'll have more to share in 2024."

Epic Games purchased Harmonix (the developers of the Rock Band series and several of the original Guitar Hero games) in November 2021. Fortnite Festival appears to be the lovechild of that marriage.

Harmonix was still an independent studio when they released Rock Band 4 in 2015. At the time, they partnered with Mad Catz to manufacture a fresh set of instruments for the series' fourth installment. But production on those instruments ceased years ago, and now they're very hard to find in the wild or extremely expensive to purchase used online.

Now that Harmonix is backed by a financial juggernaut like Epic Games, the big question is whether the publisher will manufacture a new set of peripherals to sell to fans. Otherwise, anyone who wants to purchase a second-hand guitar, drum set, or keyboard is likely to have to spend a pretty penny.

The Lego Fortnite cinematic trailer spotlights crafting, building, and survival https://www.destructoid.com/lego-fortnite-trailer-crafting-survival-epic/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=lego-fortnite-trailer-crafting-survival-epic https://www.destructoid.com/lego-fortnite-trailer-crafting-survival-epic/#respond Wed, 06 Dec 2023 19:00:50 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=436676 Lego Fortnite Cinematic Trailer Characters Read to Attack

We're now a day away from players being able to jump into the world of Lego Fortnite for the very first time. We still have a ton of questions, but some of them may have been answered thanks to today's lengthy Lego Fortnite cinematic trailer.

It runs over two-and-a-half minutes long and provides a pretty good idea of what Epic Games is trying to accomplish with the new game mode. It seems less like another battle royale, and more like a Minecraft-inspired world building game.

https://youtu.be/GeKTrjGdJ2E

The trailer follows the Brite Bomber character, one of over 1,200 Fortnite skins that are getting a Lego makeover. As we see her traverse this new Lego-themed land, we get a general idea of what Epic Games and Lego are collaborating on to create.

Brite Bomber finds a dilapidated tower with a crafting bench and quickly creates an axe so she can get to work. She harvests trees in the area to gather wood for building structures. With that, she's able to craft a cabin for shelter and build a fence to hold her newly found Lego sheep. There's even a garden that she throws together to begin growing crops for later use.

As night falls in the trailer, you can hear sinister howls in the distance. Brite Bomber runs back to her cabin and utilizes the crafting table yet again (now in her freshly made log cabin) and crafts a wooden crossbow for self-defense. Lego Peely is now with her and crafts a wooden sword for good measure.

When the team returns to their village, we see it's now evolved into a bustling town with dozens of inhabitants, herds of animals, numerous grocery stands, and plenty of impressive structures. It's here, perhaps, that lets us assume that Lego Fortnite may well indeed revolve around a multiplayer component. Up to this point, Epic Games has been coy about confirming these details.

What kind of dangers are in this new Lego Fortnite world?

As the trailer heads toward a finish, a hot air balloon (Lego Fortnite's take on the Battle Bus?) departs with our team toward what appears to be the Grand Glacier area. The balloon passes the icy peaks and instead lands in a desert biome further beyond. Brite Bomber and her team head into a cave where they find skeletons mining the molten area we saw in the new mode's initial reveal. Again, it has Minecraft vibes, similar to finding a hostile area filled with creepers, skeletons, and zombies.

It appears that boss creatures are confirmed in this Lego Fortnite world too. The team is discovered within the cave and is quickly confronted by a skeletal dragon-looking creature. Everyone pulls out their crafted weapon of choice, and the fight is on.

You can't help but watch the Lego Fortnite cinematic trailer and tell yourself that this is essentially Minecraft in Fortnite. Whether that's an accurate take or not, we'll find out tomorrow. Lego Fortnite launches on December 7, as one of several games coming to Fortnite this week.

After over 1,200 episodes and well over a dozen films, Ash Ketchum's Pokémon journey concluded earlier this year. But you'd be crazy if you thought that would be the end of the immensely successful anime series. Pokémon Horizons is on the way to pick up the mantle, with Netflix confirming in a new trailer that it will begin airing stateside early next year.

Pokémon Horizons features a new duo of Liko and Roy, each with a starter from the Paldea region. Liko is paired with the grass-type Sprigatito, while Roy adventures around with the fire-type Fuecoco. The trailer introduces us to Liko and explains she has traveled to where it all began, the Kanto region, to enroll in the Indigo Academy. We also meet Roy, a young native of the Kanto region with a passion for becoming a Pokémon trainer. Sound familiar?

https://youtu.be/sU_4d8KImsk

Liko and Roy both possess artifacts that the Explorers, the Team Rocket-like group of Horizons, are seeking to take. Liko has a mysterious pendant passed down to her from her grandmother. While Roy has an ancient-looking Poké Ball that raises questions of its own.

The duo isn't alone though, as a group known as the Rising Volt Tacklers come to their aid in the show. The group is headlined by its own duo of Friede and Captain Pikachu, with Friede riding atop a fierce-looking Charizard of his own.

The series will start streaming on Netflix beginning February 23, 2024, which purposely coincides with the timing of Pokémon Day celebrations for 2024.

Pokémon Horizons isn't the only Pokémon series Netflix has coming down the pipeline though, as the fantastic-looking stop-motion animated Pokémon Concierge begins streaming on December 28.

Sonic 3 movie director offers a glimpse of Shadow the Hedgehog as filming begins https://www.destructoid.com/sonic-3-shadow-the-hedgehog/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=sonic-3-shadow-the-hedgehog https://www.destructoid.com/sonic-3-shadow-the-hedgehog/#respond Wed, 29 Nov 2023 19:57:19 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=433897 Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Shadow the Hedgehog teaser scene.

Fans excited for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 got a nice little tease today. Jeff Fowler, director of both 2020's Sonic the Hedgehog and 2022's Sonic the Hedgehog 2, published a tweet today teasing the emergence of one of the blue blur's most iconic villains, Shadow the Hedgehog in next year's Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

The point of the tweet was twofold. Fowler shared an image teasing the lower half of Sonic's genetically engineered rival, but also confirmed that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was "off and running" with development.

https://twitter.com/fowltown/status/1729878127848157583?s=61

Shadow the Hedgehog was revealed as a tease during the conclusion of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. While his team was searching for Dr. Robotnik, G.U.N. Commander Walters was informed that a 50-year-old file was found that contained coordinates to a secret site hosting something called "Project: Shadow". We then see the black hedgehog open his angry eyes within a containment cell. The background of the image Fowler posted today looks to be that very same site.

Shadow the Hedgehog originally debuted as a foil to Sonic in the Sega Dreamcast's Sonic Adventure 2. Due to the character's popularity, he became a series mainstay, acting as an anti-hero of sorts who strives to do good but by any means necessary.

Fowler also confirmed today that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is on track for release in December of 2024. However, that won't be the next time you're able to jump back into this live-action Sonic world. Paramount confirmed in February 2022 that a live-action Knuckles series was in the works with Iris Elba returning. The studio also teased that they were planning to expand the Sonic live-action universe with several other projects as well.

The Knuckles live-action series is slated to arrive on Paramount+ early next year. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 races to theaters on December 20.

Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition confirmed after it leaked early https://www.destructoid.com/beyond-good-evil-20th-anniversary-edition-leak/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=beyond-good-evil-20th-anniversary-edition-leak https://www.destructoid.com/beyond-good-evil-20th-anniversary-edition-leak/#respond Wed, 29 Nov 2023 19:02:25 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=433895 Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition Screenshot

Typically, game leaks come from a single source that makes a slip-up. But it seems fitting that the emergence of Ubisoft's Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition has come from several - including the publisher itself.

The title initially leaked onto the internet via an Xbox Store listing page early this morning. The page has since been taken down. But it was live long enough for those who found it to record all of the pertinent details, including the always prompt Wario64:

https://twitter.com/Wario64/status/1729661047878070315?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

Media from the actual game itself surfaced on social media later in the day. Due to what Ubisoft is labeling "a technical error", some Ubisoft+ subscribers were able to play an early development version of Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition well before the publisher intended.

Following the pair of leaks, Ubisoft made a formal announcement confirming the existence of the project. They confirmed that the 20th Anniversary Edition of the game will officially debut in early 2024 and that additional details will be shared next year.

As previously stated, a lot of those details are now out in the wild. The Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition will run at 4K and 60 fps. It will sport updated controls, visuals, and audio, as well as having an auto-save feature and cross-save capabilities.

The Xbox listing teased several notable features that are being added to the anniversary edition. Players can "enjoy exclusive new rewards as you explore the planet and discover more about Jade’s past in a new treasure hunt throughout Hillys." A speedrun mode is being designed for the game. There will be updated achievements. And Ubisoft is offering behind-the-scenes access to the project's development within a new anniversary gallery.

Beyond just the first game

Beyond Good & Evil initially launched for the GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC in 2003 to solid reviews. The title would then go on to accumulate quite the cult following, and an HD remaster was developed and released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011.

At E3 2017, Ubisoft hit the stage and formally announced a prequel to the game was in development that still starred the initial game's duo of Jade and Pey'j. Since then, there has been little to see as far as progress goes. It's easy to believe the game is languishing in development hell, but in May 2022 Ubisoft Barcelona posted a job opening seeking a Senior Gameplay Animator on the project. In the tweet, they referenced the title as "one of the most ambitious Ubisoft projects to date."

In July 2020, Deadline posted news that a Beyond Good & Evil movie was in the works at Netflix with director Rob Letterman at the helm. There has been little to no news following the announcement of that project as well.

We've known that Amazon's Fallout TV series has been in the works since July 2020. Today, we get our first good look at the series' live-action world thanks to a brand new batch of images.

Vanity Fair released the first set of promotional images from the upcoming video game adaptation. In addition to that, the outlet also had a chance to pick the brains of Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the power couple who are showrunners of the Fallout TV series, just as they were on HBO's Westworld.

In the new images, we get to see quite a bit of the Amazon Prime Video series' vibe. There are images of one of the series leads, Lucy (Ella Purnell), both inside and outside her home of Vault 33. We get several looks at The Brotherhood of Steel and their iconic Power Armor Suits. As well as a couple of looks at Walter Goggins' Ghoul character, who looks fiendishly fantastic.

Image via Amazon/Vanity Fair

The Vault, uniforms, Power Armor Suits, and of course the post-apocalyptic world, all look incredibly accurate to the video game series from Bethesda Softworks and Interplay. And from what Nolan and Joy have conveyed, the story will be faithful to the game franchise too.

Prior to today, the only glimpse of the world we've had was a tease from Amazon back in October 2022. Now, we have a bit more to go on. Like the game series, the TV world takes on the aesthetic look of 1940s or 1950s American culture. But, similar to the game series, the show begins with a nuclear war that devastates Earth in 2077. Following the nuclear event, the story jumps a whopping 219 years where the core of the Amazon series is set.

The Fallout TV show is scheduled to begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video in April 2024. Variety's piece is the beginning of what's likely to be a few months of publicity as we near the show's launch. With initial images shared, hopefully a trailer is likely to follow sometime soon.

Hitman: Blood Money – Reprisal comes to iOS and Android this month https://www.destructoid.com/hitman-blood-money-reprisal/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=hitman-blood-money-reprisal https://www.destructoid.com/hitman-blood-money-reprisal/#respond Fri, 17 Nov 2023 16:10:30 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=429040 Hitman: Blood Money - Reprisal

Hitman: Blood Money was a big hit for the franchise when it was released for PC, PlayStation 2, and Xbox 360 back in 2006. Now, a new set of players can experience the classic stealth title as heads to iOS and Android at the end of November as Hitman: Blood Money - Reprisal.

Feral Interactive, the same studio that brought us a slew of AAA titles to mobile, is back at it again. The developer dropped a trailer for Hitman: Blood Money - Reprisal that shows exactly what iOS and Android users should expect when the game releases on November 30.

https://youtu.be/0xSUvDoYTzA

The game's visuals remain on par with its PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 predecessors. But the stealth game's interface has been completely reworked to suit mobile devices. There have also been a few new bells and whistles included for a better overall experience.

Instinct Mode is something that's being brought to Reprisal from later games in the series. It highlights targets and critical mission points to make navigating maps a bit easier.

A mini-map is also being introduced to Blood Money for the first time. It offers better feedback on Agent 47's surroundings, including alerts if the character is raising suspicions. As in the original, there are 12 sandbox missions for players to enjoy over and over again due to their highly replayable nature.

Controls for Hitman: Blood Money - Reprisal have been reworked, too so that users can create a UI that fits them best on the go. However, those who wish to utilize a gamepad or keyboard and mouse have that option too.

Hitman: Blood Money - Reprisal sneaks up on iOS and Android users on November 30. It's listed in the App Store and Google Play Store for $14.99. A Nintendo Switch port is also planned for some point in the winter.

PlayStation Plus Game Catalog adds Dragon’s Dogma and more this month https://www.destructoid.com/playstation-plus-game-catalog-november/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=playstation-plus-game-catalog-november https://www.destructoid.com/playstation-plus-game-catalog-november/#respond Wed, 15 Nov 2023 21:36:59 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=428602 PlayStation Plus Game Catalog November

Sony has announced a strong assortment of titles headed to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers in the Game Catalog this November, including several PlayStation Classics being added with glow-ups included.

The headliners this month, outside of the Classics games, are likely Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen and Teardown. Teardown is a day-and-date release for PlayStation Plus subscribers. The sandbox title launches November 15 and was wonderfully broken down via a recent launch trailer narrated by Owen Wilson himself.

https://twitter.com/PlayStation/status/1724827191312109593

Do your homework ahead of Dragon's Dogma 2

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen is a port of the PlayStation 4 version of the game that earned a 78 on Metacritic. It's a 2016 action RPG from Capcom where you'll explore a large open world with a trio of AI companions. This version also includes all of the previously released DLC.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme vs. Maxi Boost On is another very well-received PlayStation 4 title that's included this month. We lauded the 2020 3D fighter, praising it for a "more properly thought-out offline suite, split-screen support, LAN mode, a deep roster, and an improved netcode all lead to a superior package that can appeal to even non-Gundam fans."

Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition is a post-apocalyptic first-person shooter that you can probably skip. The perception puzzler, Superliminal, is on the way later this month. We thought it was "Great" in our November 2019 review.

Also included this month is Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising, a Kickstarter prequel to the upcoming action RPG Eiyuden Chronicle: Hunderd Heroes. We also gave Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising a "Great" review, fueling even more hype toward Hundred Heroes' release in April 2024.

Nobunaga’s Ambition: Taishi is a 2018 turn-based strategy title from Koei Tecmo Games. Its PlayStation 4 version earned a 70 on Metacritic.

Alternate Jake Hunter: Daedalus The Awakening of Golden Jazz is a visual novel with a mouthful of a name. It's an interrogation murder mystery set in New York City that pulls your inner detective out. And River City Melee Mach!! is, as you might expect, a retro-styled 2D beat 'em-up from Arc System Works.

The classics

Finally, there's a quartet of PlayStation Premium Classics games coming our way. Grandia, a legendary PlayStation 1 RPG is coming to the Catalog, complete with up-rendered graphics, a rewind feature, quick save, and custom video filters.

The iconic 1997 PlayStation racer, Jet Moto is getting a makeover as well. It too features up-rendered looks, quick save, rewind, and custom video filters.

Disney Pixar's Up is an inclusion for all the younger players out there. It didn't review very well, but the 2009 adventure game is one your kids may enjoy.

Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series combines the PlayStation 1's Klonoa: Door to Phantomile and PlayStation 2's Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil into one package. The pair's looks have both been upgraded and adjustable difficulty settings were implemented to make the games more accessible. We gave it a 7 when it was released initially in July 2022.

Finally, but perhaps most excitedly for many, is the inclusion of PaRappa the Rapper 2. Originally released on PlayStation 2, the game's graphics have since been upgraded and Trophy support was added to this iconic rapping rhythm title.

Teardown is available for PlayStation Plus subscribers at launch on November 15. Everything else rolls out to those with the subscription service on November 21. Be sure to be thankful for these throwback titles during Thanksgiving break.

Ubisoft reveals its Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Season Pass plans https://www.destructoid.com/avatar-frontiers-of-pandora-season-pass-details/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=avatar-frontiers-of-pandora-season-pass-details https://www.destructoid.com/avatar-frontiers-of-pandora-season-pass-details/#respond Wed, 15 Nov 2023 21:32:47 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=428597 Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Season Pass

Ubisoft dropped a new Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora trailer today to showcase what the publisher has planned for the game post-launch. It showcases a pair of story packs and exclusive content at launch for players who purchase the title's Season Pass.

While the game is unabashedly a Ubisoft-styled open-world game, our preview confirmed that "Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora [feels] like an accurate representation of playing as Na’vi in the world of Pandora." So fans of the franchise should have reason to be excited. Now, they know the experience isn't over once the initial credits roll.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j71rWn8cr8I

The Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Season Pass consists of three main parts: the Familiar Echoes bonus quest, The Sky Breaker story pack 1, and Secrets of the Spires story pack 2. Familiar Echoes will be available for download at launch while the pair of story packs will roll out in the summer and fall of 2024 respectively.

Details are still scarce, but the Familiar Echoes DLC is a mission in which you "Infiltrate a highly secured RDA military base and hack their classified data to sabotage them from the inside." There's only a brief clip of footage in the new trailer and a solitary screenshot (below), but it looks as though it may be a stealth mission of sorts where you'll be asked to quietly hack systems via a minigame while also taking down soldiers and mechs of the RDA.

Post-launch comes the pair of story DLC targeting the second half of 2024. In the summer comes The Sky Breaker. Ubisoft teases that you'll experience "epic aerial battles" as a "mysterious shadow looms in the sky, threatening the Na’vi clans below who are celebrating at their great festival of games."

Following story pack one is the Secrets of the Spires DLC in the fall. This too is aerial-focused, but the Season Pass content is set in a new canyon region of Pandora.

The Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Season Pass comes included with the Gold and Ultimate Editions of the upcoming PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S game. The Gold Edition is currently $109.99 and the Ultimate Edition is listed at $129.99.

The Game Awards is hosting a vote for best user-created Fortnite Island inside Fortnite https://www.destructoid.com/the-game-awards-best-user-made-fortnite-island/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-game-awards-best-user-made-fortnite-island https://www.destructoid.com/the-game-awards-best-user-made-fortnite-island/#respond Tue, 14 Nov 2023 22:04:57 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=428060 The Game Awards best Fortnite Island

10 islands enter, one island wins. The Game Awards' Geoff Keighley has orchestrated an in-game opportunity in which players can now vote on the battle royale title's best user-created island of the year.

The announcement came from Keighley this afternoon. In collaboration with Nighttimes and Studio 568, the partnership has created a hub world that Fortnite players can travel to to vote in-game on what they believe is the best original locale out there.

https://youtu.be/ChKvof3DP5U

The in-game experience is something The Game Awards creator, Geoff Keighley, has been excited about for years:

"Ever since I hosted Live From Risky Reels in Fortnite in 2019, I’ve been thinking about ways The Game Awards could bring our celebration inside the games we play every day," said Keighley in a press release. "Our Fortnite island is the first experiment in this direction, and I’m particularly excited to help shine the spotlight on the amazing user-generated community around the world."

The Game Awards Island, located in-game at 0853-1358-8532, features 10 creator-made islands that can be voted on once a day per Epic ID. After players finish voting, they can explore the custom island to find Game Awards statues scattered throughout. If all of the statues are found, players will enjoy a nice XP boost for their efforts.

The Game Awards Vote in Fortnite event begins today and runs until December 6 at 6:00 p.m. PT. The winning island will be revealed the following night, December 7, during The Game Awards live and within The Game Awards Fortnite island. The rest of November’s Game Pass titles have been revealed https://www.destructoid.com/november-game-pass-second-half/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=november-game-pass-second-half https://www.destructoid.com/november-game-pass-second-half/#respond Tue, 14 Nov 2023 19:50:43 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=427866 November Game Pass Second Half

If you're looking for some fresh titles on Game Pass to occupy your time during Thanksgiving break, Xbox has you covered. The console maker announced a new batch of games coming to its subscription service throughout the rest of November.

Launching on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S today is Coral Island. The cutesy farming sim, available via Game Pass, has a specific focus on ocean conservation. Check out today's new trailer to see if it's up your alley:

Next up on the docket is Persona 5 Tactica, coming to Game Pass for console and PC on November 17. This turn-based tactical RPG takes the Phantom Thieves on a new adventure in a fresh new realm. Reviews for the day one Game Pass game began rolling out today. You can read through Destructoid's review in progress here.

Following Persona 5 Tactica is Dune: Spice Wars on November 28. It's described as a 4X (explore, expand, exploit, exterminate) real-time strategy game. You lead a faction of warriors within the Dune universe across the world of Arrakis in an attempt to control, you guessed it, spice. The game launched on PC Game Pass about a year ago and will soon be available for Series X|S players.

Rollerdrome also arrives for Xbox Series X|S on November 28. It's a third-person action shooter set in the year 2030, where a brutal and bold new sport has the public going wild. It originally launched on PC and PlayStation 5, the latter of which Destructoid reviewed and gave a glowing 8.5, calling it "an exceptional and welcoming game, one that takes the best elements from [skating and competitive shooter] genres and combines them into a sophisticated and unabashedly cool experience."

As new games come, other games go, so here are the titles leaving Game Pass on November 30. If you're interested, play them soon or get their Game Pass discounts while you can:

Teardown’s console launch trailer is beautifully narrated by Owen Wilson https://www.destructoid.com/teardown-console-launch-trailer-owen-wilson/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=teardown-console-launch-trailer-owen-wilson https://www.destructoid.com/teardown-console-launch-trailer-owen-wilson/#respond Tue, 14 Nov 2023 19:24:15 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=427862 Teardown console keyart

It's been a long time coming, but Teardown is finally making its way to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X tomorrow, November 15. And who better to help us get excited than the great Owen Wilson? Wowwwwww...right?

Wilson narrates today's Teardown console launch trailer in a way that only he can. If you're unfamiliar with the title, the comedic actor describes it perfectly in the video as "a real-time physics simulation game with fully destructible environments." Essentially, it's a sandbox game where you can blow literally everything up. As Wilson so eloquently puts it, "Breaking stuff is fun, and the bigger the stuff, the bigger the fun."

https://youtu.be/SflsUI2-Qm0

While we had to wait quite a bit after the PC edition, Tuxedo Labs' console version of the game is loaded with features to help make it worth it. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X owners can expect a full 40-mission story campaign to complete, as well as the Art Vandals DLC that launched late last year for PC.

The campaign and DLC revolve around a series of heists that must be completed while working within the game's voxel-based physics engine. Everything is fully destructible, with in-world debris, water, fire, and more being authentically simulated.

As players work through the campaign, they'll begin with a modest assortment of tools at their disposal. Expect things like sledgehammers, spray cans, extinguishers, and leafblowers early on. But as you progress, you'll be utilizing more powerful items such as firearms and explosives.

"What's in the box?"

A Sandbox mode is included so that players can freely create and destroy at will. Here, players can work with unlimited resources and spawn structures, vehicles, tools, and more. And there are special level challenges offered outside of the campaign and DLC that provide Teardown players some side-quests of sorts.

Tuxedo Labs has included a curated set of mods from the Teardown community within the console package. These mods provide a ton of replayability as they offer fresh maps, mini-games, tools, scenarios, vehicles, and more.

If you're unfamiliar with the game, give the Teardown console launch trailer a peek above. Oddly enough, it's not the only video game that's associated with Owen Wilson this week.
