How to get shells in Lego Fortnite

There is only one way to get shells in Lego Fortnite and this requires the player to find a specific enemy type known as a roller. Rollers drop shells whenever players defeat them, which is a highly valuable material item. Shells are used to upgrade the crafting bench, which itself is used to obtain rarer tools and items.

What you need to do is locate a roller somewhere in your world and defeat them. Every time you defeat a roller, you are guaranteed to find a shell, which you can pick up and add to your inventory. Unfortunately, most items and upgrades in this game require you to find multiple shells, so you’ll have to find and defeat several rollers.

Where to find rollers

Rollers are most often found in the Grasslands region of Lego Fortnite. The rolling hills of this biome is often home to these rock crab-like monsters. The catch is they hide themselves in the environment. What you want to look for are the small boulders, like the screenshot above. If you see the little green plant sticking up, you know that is a roller.

All you need to do is approach the suspicious rock and the roller will jump out. I also often find rollers in areas where there are a lot of large rocks to farm granite from. They seem to blend in with this area quite well. I have even once seen a roller appear after I destroyed a massive boulder with my pickaxe. It can take time but sleeping in your bed can speed up the process.

How to defeat rollers

Finding a roller is only half the process of farming for shells in Lego Fortnite. You also have to defeat these creatures, which are pretty tough, especially in the early hours when you only have three hearts. As the name implies, rollers will curl up into a ball and charge at you at lightning fast speeds.

When this happens, you have to dodge to the left or right before it hits or you take a lot of damage. But after it finishes rolling, the roller has a window of time where it is vulnerable, so get in there and start slashing away, preferably with a weapon or axe. It also has a close-range melee attack, which also deals a good bit of damage, so be sure to dodge away from that as well. Roller fights take a bit of time to win, but if you have patience and dodge often, you can do it without losing any health.
