Damage specialist or support?

The best Medium build in The Finals

The Medium class is supposed to be the more “balanced” class, but it can be the best support or a beast of a powerhouse with the right setup. If you like a good mix between being nimble and strong, here’s the best build you can run for Medium characters in The Finals.

The best Medium build in The Finals

We’ll showcase two builds for this role based on whether you’re playing by yourself or with a team.

Best Medium solo build

This build is intended for players who matchmake solo. Whether it’s in the new game mode that was released in Update 1.5 or if you’re solo queuing, this build relies on self-sufficiency.

  • Specialization: Recon Senses / Guardian Turret
  • Weapon: AKM
  • Gadgets: Explosive Mine, Pyro Grenade, Frag Grenade
  • Reserve: Model 1887, Gas Mine, Flash Bang, Jump Pad

If you are in a team that can’t really come together to engage in firefights, this build will help you make up for a possible lack of firepower. Recon Senses allows you to act more methodically so you don’t get blindsided by another team.

Alternatively, the Guardian Turret gives your enemies another entity to shoot. This can help you engage in more gun fights or allow you to distract opponents using the turret as you kill them from another angle.

Pair either one of those with a good Explosive Mine for a trap or a grenade to create an area of denial from afar. You can control a fair amount of playing space near objectives with this setup.

Your reserve items are mostly there to switch up the range at which you engage opponents. Shotguns will help close the gap if you need to while the other gadgets can help disorient your enemies. And yes, the Jump Pad can be used in troll-ish ways in enclosed areas for example to disorient enemies. It’s quite hilarious.

Best Medium team build

If you are in a team that actually communicates, this build will wildly differ from the aforementioned one. You’ll assume more of a support role here. Also, your teammates will be very appreciative.

  • Specialization: Healing Beam
  • Weapon: Riot Shield
  • Gadgets: Defibrillator, Flashbang, Jump Pad
  • Reserve: CL-40, Gas Mine, Explosive Mine, APS Turret

This build turns you into a field medic. It’s ideal to run this if you feel like you aren’t the best shot of your team. For all the missed shots you’re taking, you’re putting it into maintaining those who do have better aim. You’re still rewarded for it and you have other means of engaging in combat.

Use your Riot Shield to bait foes and make them waste their resources on you. Within that time, you acting as a decoy can allow your teammates to flank them. Should anyone fall in battle, you can easily pick up a downed teammate with your Defib and heal them back to full with your Healing Beam

Flash Bangs and Jump Pads are there mostly to create just enough time to get away or patch up your squad in the heat of a battle.

As for your reserves, these items are put in to assume a more defensive role. Explosives, brute force, and level destruction are the meta right now. If you can do anything to reduce the likelihood of a Banking area being destroyed by explosives, this can help do just that. Also, you can join that meta by creating so many traps for other players to fall right into.
