The second game in the Another Code: Recollection collection takes a while to really get into the puzzles, but once it does… there are some puzzles. One of them involves a small model clock tower, and this is how you solve it.

The puzzle pops up once Ashley and Mathew decide that they need to get into the clock tower to learn more about Mathew’s past. Charlotte tells you that the clock tower requires three keys (it doesn’t, you need them to fix the clock), which were each held by one of her family members. She gets a bit more specific, telling you her father used to spend all his time in his workshop.

Entering the workshop, you see a conspicuous clock on the workbench that is shaped like a clock tower with a door on the side marked with an E. Each side of the clock has a letter indicating a cardinal direction (N,E,S,W) and a dial resembling a clock face. These can be interacted with, allowing you to set the time on each face. However, you won’t immediately know what they need to be set to.

There’s a desk next to the workbench that has a few clocks on it, the central of which has three dials. In front of this three-dialed clock are the letters S and N offset in a way that aligns with the clock faces. S is the left dial, and N is the middle. You can interact with the clock, and it will tell you the times. You may realize that you need to set these times on the model clock tower for the corresponding sides, S and N. However, that’s just two faces.

To find the times for the other faces, you need to open the drawers. The right drawer has the letter W, which signifies that the rightmost dial on the three-faced clock is the time you need to enter on the W side of the model clock tower.

Another Code: Recollection S+N=E carved into a drawer

The left drawer has the carving S+N=E. That means exactly what it says. If you add the times on the S and N faces, you’ll get the time you need to put onto the E clock.

I’ll give you my times, for example, but I’m not certain if these change depending on your playthrough. 

  • N – 3:20
  • E – 9:25
  • S – 6:05
  • W – 8:15

Note that E is the sum of N and S. 3:20 plus 6:05 comes out to 9:25.

As you set these times, the clock will make a “click” noise, signifying that you input it correctly. Once all the times are set, the door on the E side will open and you’ll be able to snag your first key.
