Furina is effectively two characters in one, with the ability to switch between Ousia and Pneuma states by using a Charged Attack. In her Ousia state, her Skill summons three Salon members who fight alongside your active character while draining your team’s health. In her Pneuma state, her Skill summons an Oceanid who deals no damage, but heals your active character.

Though the healing from her Pneuma Skill is quite substantial, its lack of damage and Hydro application means it sees little use in combat. Use it outside of combat or in the overworld when you need to heal your party, but this build guide focuses on optimizing Furina’s damage in her Ousia state.

As an off-field DPS, Furina will almost always remain in her Ousia state. Her basic combo involves using her Skill and Burst before switching teammates. Her Salon members deal the vast majority of Furina’s damage. Meanwhile, her Burst buffs her teammates based on the amount of HP gained or lost by the team. The HP drain from her Skill stops when a character reaches 50% HP, so you will want to bring a powerful healer to keep your team alive and buffed.

Weapons

Splendor of Tranquil Waters
This is Furina’s best weapon, but not by a huge margin compared to Festering Desire. It provides plenty of CRIT DMG, Skill DMG, and HP, but its lack of Energy Recharge might mean you need an Energy Recharge sands.

Primordial Jade Cutter / Key of Khaj-Nisut
These 5-star Swords offer useful stats like CRIT and HP. Key of Khaj-Nisut results in less personal DPS than Primordial Jade Cutter, but it allows Furina to buff her team’s Elemental Mastery. Remember to stay on-field with Furina long enough to gain three stacks of Key’s passive, since she can’t gain stacks off-field.

Festering Desire
If you were around during Genshin Impact Version 1.2, you might have this 4-star Sword sitting in your inventory. At Refinement 5, Festering Desire is roughly on par with Key for Furina’s DPS. If you weren’t able to obtain Festering Desire when it was available, try one of the other options in this list while we pray for past event weapons to become obtainable.

Fleuvre Cendre Ferryman
This is the 4-star Sword available from Fontaine’s Fishing Association. It helps with Furina’s Energy needs and increases her Skill’s CRIT Rate. If you don’t have the above options, then this is your best bet. Time to go fishing.

Artifacts

4pc Golden Troupe (4GT)
This is Furina’s best set for personal damage. She has no trouble using its 4pc effect since she will be mostly off-field. All of her Salon members’ damage counts as Skill damage, meaning the vast majority of her damage gets buffed by 70%.

4pc Tenacity of the Millelith (4TotM)
4TotM results in less personal damage for Furina, but allows her to buff her teammates’ ATK. There are few instances where the team buff is worth the tradeoff, but if all of your other teammates scale with ATK, then it might be worth considering this set.

CRIT Rate/DMG

If Furina is the sole Hydro unit in her team, she may need upwards of 200% Energy Recharge. With another Hydro teammate or a Favonius holder, this goes down to a more manageable 170-180%.

Once Energy needs are met, you can focus on building CRIT and HP. Depending on your team, an HP goblet can be competitive with a Hydro DMG goblet. For the most part though, you can safely use whichever you have with better substats.

Teams

As an off-field Hydro unit, Furina is extremely flexible. There are just two things to keep in mind when crafting a team for Furina:

  1. Bring a potent healer. Furina’s Skill will gradually drain your teammates’ HP, and without a healer, you might find yourself in precarious situations. Healers who can heal your entire team, like Jean, Charlotte, and Baizhu, are particularly valuable. Characters like Bennett, Diona, or Kuki Shinobu might not be able to provide adequate healing, since they only heal the on-field character.
  2. Furina alone cannot enable a Pyro Vaporize DPS. Her Salon members attack at different rates and apply Hydro inconsistently. Furina cannot fully replace Xingqiu or Yelan in Vaporize teams. She can, however, be used in conjunction with other Hydro units.

Aside from the above two points, as long as her Energy needs are met, Furina can be slotted into any team that benefits from an off-field Hydro DPS or a buffer. Here are just a few examples to try out, but the sky’s the limit!

  • Furina – Neuvillette – Kazuha/flex – healer
  • Furina – Hu Tao/Yoimiya – Xingqiu/Yelan – healer
  • Furina – Nilou – Nahida/Dendro Traveler – Baizhu/Yaoyao
  • Furina – Alhaitham/Nahida – Kuki/Raiden – Baizhu
  • Furina – Noelle – Albedo – Gorou
  • Furina – Xiao/Wanderer – Faruzan – Jean
  • Furina – Kokomi – Xiangling – Bennett
  • Furina – Ganyu/Ayaka/WriothesleyVenti/Kazuha – Charlotte
  • Furina – Cyno – Nahida/Dendro Traveler – Baizhu
