The Daedalian Key locations in Hogwarts Legacy are tricky to spot. They’re tiny flying keys that can help you gain House Tokens; there’s a reward if you gain all of them.
#1 – Astronomy Tower
This one is the easiest to find as the side quests show you the way to the first key. Press Up on your D-Pad to release a guiding light. You’ll then find a flying key in the Astronomy Tower area. Lead it to the House Cabinet, and you’ll then begin a mini-game. You’ll need to get the key inside the lock. Keep moving the analog stick until the key shifts its location.
Once it hovers over the keylock mid-direction, press the confirmation button (Cross or A on PlayStation and Xbox). After finding the first key, go to your common room and place the token you’ve gained inside the house chest. Then, return to Nellie to begin this long quest around Hogwarts.
#2 – Quad Courtyard
In the Quad Quartyard (fast travel to it in The Grand Staircase area of Hogwarts), you’ll see a water fountain statue of a dragon with six tails. To the left of it, there’s a staircase that you should run up. At the end of the staircase, on the left, you’ll see the flying Daedalian key. Go down the staircase, following it taking the right passageway from the water fountain. On the right side of the door, you’ll see the House Cabinet.
#3 – Defense Against The Dark Arts Tower
In the Astronomy Wing section of the Hogwarts Map, fast travel to the Defense Against The Dark Arts Tower. Go down two flights of stairs while going to the right. Around the rhino-like bone display, you’ll see the key fluttering around. Go back up the stairs again and turn left from the painting with a burning witch. Turn left again and you’ll see the cabinet.
#4 – Viaduct Entrance
Go underneath the flags and below the stairs to the left, you’ll find the key. The cabinet is down the central stairs and to the right of a painting with a green-shirted man.
#5 – Central Hallway
From the Floo Powder fast travel location, go down the staircase and go left. There should be a green door in front of you. Turn left from that and then look behind you. The key should be flying around here. Follow it up and go to the other side of the room. Go down the staircase and glance right. There’s the cabinet.
#6 – Near the Potions classroom
Just outside the Potions classroom, you’ll see the key cower and fly away down the staircase to the right. Run down the stairs, and the cabinet is hard to miss.
#7 – Bell Tower
You’ll find the next key at the bottom of the staircase from the Bell Tower music room. Follow it back up from where you were. You’ll find the cabinet next to an animated painting of a girl with a drum.
#8 – Library
Head to the fireplace in the library and go right. You’ll see the key fluttering around. Follow it to the right of the Floo Powder fast travel spot, and you’ll discover the cabinet to the left of a ladder on the shelves.
#9 – Near the Prefect area / Faculty Tower
In the often locked Prefect’s area and where Gladwin Moon stands, you’ll find the next key. It’s on the second floor near the balloons. Follow it down the stairs, where you could meet Nearless Headless Nick, and you’ll find the cabinet underneath the staircase.
#10 – Hospital Wing
From the Hospital Wing Floo Powder spot, go down the left staircase (gosh, there are so many stairs in Hogwarts!). Go towards the clock’s gears on this floor, and the key will fly behind you. The cabinet is near the statue of a scared man.
#11 – Great Hall
To the left, you’ll see a fireplace with a tiny flame. In front of it is the key. Go up the stairs to the bottom right of the room to find the cabinet.
#12 – Entrance Hall
Step outside the Great Hall and go forward three doors. You’ll see the key flying in front of a painted picture of a wizard with a white beard. I’m guessing it’s Merlin. Go down the staircase and to the left of a pig statue, you’ll see the cabinet.
#13 – Grand Staircase
Go up near the top of the spiral staircase. You’ll see a painting of an animated orange cat nearby where the key is fluttering. Once it flies away, run down to the bottom of the steps on the same level as the One-Eyed Witch statue. Just as you see the house hourglasses, look to the right. The cabinet is just before you hit the stairs down.
#14 – Map Chamber
From the Map Chamber Floo Powder fast travel point, go up the stairs, including the second flight ahead. Go through the rickety iron door. Walk through the left passageway. The key is hanging out in this corridor. Turn around and continue exploring this barrel-filled room. To the left, you’ll find the cabinet.
#15 – The Dragon Statue
Continue running down the passageway we found the last Daedalian key, and you’ll see an impressive dragon statue ahead. The key can be easily found in this room. Go up the stairs to the left (more stairs, ah), and the cabinet can be discovered quickly.
#16 – Clock Tower
From the Clock Tower Courtyard Floo Powder location, you’ll see a door that’s locked to the left-hand side just before you head outside. There are four shields with the house crests above. Unlock the door with Alohomora and go up the staircase inside (seriously, these wizard kids must get their cardio). Once you’re up that flight, go left. The key is waiting for you below a dim light. You’ll see it fly above you.
Now, head up even more stairs behind you. The cabinet is to your left.
The reward
Once you acquire all of the house tokens, return to your common room. Get to the chest and place them inside. You’ll then get the Relic House Uniform from your house, and it looks exquisite. To finish the quest, return to Nellie. The Daedalian Key locations in Hogwarts Legacy are difficult to access, and yet you’re given a measly 180XP. What gives? At least you have a nice costume from your efforts.
There are other tasks to complete like getting the trophy for reaching the highest point of the castle.
